One of the most popular themes for songwriters features songs about dreams and dreaming, and each year we celebrate recordings of some of these songs in a special show. Our recordings today are from the mid 1930s to the late 1950s and bring us a range of interpretations of these delightful compositions. We begin with Buddy Clark and “Girl of my Dreams” and conclude with Margaret Whiting and “Hit the Road to Dreamland”. Listen too to the lovely voices of Doris Day with the classic “Dream a Little Dream of Me” and Frank Sinatra bringing us “Deep in A Dream”. From 1940 Ella Fitzgerald joins us with the orchestra founded by Chick Webb in a song that she wrote herself, “I Fell In Love with a Dream”. And we go back to 1934 to hear from British crooner Al Bowlly and “All I Do is Dream About You”. Enjoy these lovely songs on a delightful theme!
