Today we’ll be celebrating the work of one of the finest pianists in jazz and popular music, Teddy Wilson. He was born in Austin, Texas, on November 24, 1912, and each year at this time we pay tribute to his contribution to jazz and popular music. Teddy has been described as the quintessential swing pianist. He was certainly blessed with a delightful sense of timing and phrasing and a beautiful touch on the keys. His career began in the early 1930s and lasted into the 1980’s, during which time he played with many small groups and vocalists, and he also led his own orchestra. Enjoy this selection of Teddy's recordings and his amazing contribution to jazz and popular music!
