Today we’ll be listening to the work of two songwriters, composer Jimmy McHugh and lyricist Dorothy Fields. These two songwriters produced a lot of music between the 1920s and the 1950s, both together as a highly successful song writing team and also while working with other songwriters of the period. Much of what they wrote ended up on the stage or on the screen, in various revues and shows, and there are some very familiar songs in their repertoire. And we’ll hear them today along with some not quite so well known to us, performed by a host of singers and orchestras. These are very nice songs that have certainly stood the test of time. Enjoy some classic songs!!
