Our show today celebrates small jazz groups from the 1930s through to the 1950s. Musicians in these groups made many recordings at this time in studio sessions for the independent labels and left us a treasury of wonderful jazz from these immensely talented artists. George Wettling and friends join us with "Bugle Call Rag" and the ever exuberant Muggsy Spanier and His Ragtimers bring us the jazz standard "Dippermouth Blues". We have a fine line up of pianists today, includeing Teddy Wilson and Johnny Guarnieri. In one of the finest recordings of the era, we listen to Sidney Bechet and Jonah Jones on their classic rendition of "Black and Blue"from 1953. And to round out the year, Don Redman brings us his 1938 version of Auld Lang Syne". Happy New Year and we look forward to lots more wonderful music in 2022!
